Important information about Investec structured products
We have today received communication from Investec Structured Products that after 12 years Investec Bank plc have taken the decision to stop offering new structured products in the UK retail market.

Their final range of Plans will open for investment on 15 February 2021 and close on 1 April 2021.  As soon as we receive this detail we will display it on the website and communicate accordingly.
Are investors’ existing Plans affected by this decision?

No. All existing Plans (including all investments into their final range of Plans) are unaffected by this decision and will continue to function as set out in the relevant brochure, including your rights with regards to encashment.  Investec will continue to support all existing Plans as they continue over the coming years.

Why have Investec made this decision?

Investec have told professional advisers that they have made this decision for commercial reasons.

They have explained that Investec is a highly liquid bank and structured products are no longer the most efficient way for Investec to raise retail funding (structured products are issued by banks as a way of raising funds, similar to issuing bonds).

They have also said that factors in the structured products environment, such as persistently low interest rates and increased regulatory costs, have also contributed to this decision.

We’ll add further comment or information, if helpful, shortly.

Don’t Forget the Risks

As with all forms of investment there are risks involved. These plans do not guarantee to repay the money invested. The potential returns of the plans and repaying the money invested are linked to the level of the stock market and also depend on the financial stability of the Issuer and Counterparty Bank.

The promotion of the plans does not constitute ‘advice’ to invest. Advice is always specific to an individual investor’s circumstances and needs, following the process of ‘know your customer’, with the aim of ensuring that any product is suitable for an investor.

As always, the recommendation and common sense approach is to consider product solutions as a portfolio, never over-exposing oneself to a point of financial pain and suffering liquid or counterparty exposure.

At the Best Price FS price point (when combined with our smiley and helpful service) the Investec Plans are certainly worthy of consideration for inclusion within investment portfolios.

Warmest Regards.
